My name is Angel Huntington-Ortega and I am the creator
AngelMade Eco-Spa. I am lots of other things too.
I am also a:

• full time mother of two girls
• children's dance and craft teacher
• nationally certified massage therapist
• wife, homemaker, and (almost) compulsive crafter
• Taurus (in case you're into astrology)
• New Englander at heart, "stuck" in California
• believer that lots of people making small changes can make a big impact!
  

The first time I started to seriously consider the impact of personal hygiene products was when I was in massage school 5 years ago. That's when I learned that every single thing we put on our skin is soaked up into our bodies. Everything!

I started looking at the labels of my shampoo, my body wash, my moisturizer. I found lots of ingredients that I couldn't even pronounce. I had no idea what they were or where they came from. I didn't want my liver to have to process all that junk. (That's what happens with everything that gets absorbed into our bodies. We have to process it, and although some of it passes through us, some of it stays in us. Forever!) I certainly didn't want to send it all down the drain of my tub to cause further environmental damage.

I began to seek out other choices. I found a massage cream that said it was so natural you could eat it. It only had 5 ingredients and it worked wonderfully and smelled incredible. This got me thinking, I could make this...but I could make it better and put it in recyclable containers...

So I did. And it caught on at the spa where I was working. Soon other massage therapist were asking for more of my eco-friendly, delicious-smelling concoctions. And that's how AngelMade was born.

My goal is to redefine luxurious spa-like products into the environmentally-sound equivalent. I am amazed at the bounty of nature and the awesomeness of plants. I am hopeful for the future as more and more of us make the small change to natural ingredients in our lives that will add up to a big change in the collective health of our planet.
